Today I came home to find my male hybino has shed. I was really excited but then saw that he hardly ate any of it. It looks as if she old skin from his stomach plus other bits and pieces just came off. Now my question is, is this bad?? He has always had a problem shedding but it seems to be getting worse. Thanks.

Make sure his humid hide is extra humid. Your tank/tub might be too dry. If he's always having trouble shedding, always check his toes.

He has a humid hide 24 hours a day seven days a week; he just hates using it. I try to put him in it, but he just runs out. And i just got done peeling left over skin off of toes.

We have a rescue that hsa lost 2 toes on one front foot and 3 tioes on the other from bad sheds ( this happened before we got him and that is why the previous owner got rid of him). I try and use the conditioning spray only on his feet every time I see him start to shed. It seems like it hekps. I check really carefully every week at weigh time and so far no more toe problems. He only seems to habe trouble with his feet.

Greg, you can always mist the paper towel in his warm hide, or put a damp paper towel in there to raise the humidity when he's getting ready to shed. Also, is it snowing where you are? Snow can pull moisture out of the air and lower the relative humidity.

It is snowing unbeleivably for this time of year. We are expecting up to 8 inches tonight. We have about 2 or 3 already. Oh and someday I will post pics of the little handsome boy because he gets more colorful with each shed.

When our female has trouble with shedding I'll put her in a small plastic container for a soak in a little warm water. It's especially helpful with her toes.

Putting wet paper towels over the UTH also has helped her a lot. I also pour a small amount of water on the bottom of the cage when I notice she's in shed so that the UTH will help along the moisture.

Send that snow storm up the coast please! Our sleds are dying to try out the new "slope" that was cleared this summer right next to my house.
