Can I cut this into 6 inch pieces without worry of over heating? If I use a Themostat to control the temp. on it? All my cages are display cages and want to use just 6 inches to heat the cage but was worried that I could not cut it that short. Thanks in advance

I thought you could only cut it in one foot sections, but I could be wrong.

The 11" has to be used in panels so I believe, but the 3" / 4" can be cut anywhere between the heating strips.

How are you doing it? On one side from back to front? If you are using the 3"-4" depending on the size of your enclosure you could run it the length of the back and get good results. Then you could still cut the length in feet. Hope this helps.

Im wanting to run it across the back which would be 16 3/4 across. I also planned on using the 3in. After thinking about it my pieces would be more like 10 - 11 inches. Would this length be safe?

Hi again. Actually I got 3" flexwatt from mgreptiles. 4 pieces at 3 1/2 ft. They have 6" sections on it if you look close, there is a seperated section where you can cut it. I personally did not cut it. It came cut with the connections. Hope this helps.

Thanks Mike,
Any answer helps, I was just wanting to hear other thoughts that have dealt with flexwatt. Right now I mostly use heat cable. But with it on display cages you have to router it and counter sink it. I was just trying to get away from some of the work.:D

The Bean Farm has lots of usefull info on flexwatt. As an example, here is a qoute from their Flexwatt User Info file (its in "pdf" format):

The Bean Farm said:
"When cutting tape: 3" & 4" - always cut through the clear stripe. 11" & 17" always cut on the cut line."

I don't think it gets any clearer than this. I've only had good experiences when ordering from them! :main_thumbsup:
