Questions about breeding

I have to BPs (one currently staying w/ a friend until I get back in a bigger place next month). I am looking to breed the two, there are pics of them in another post i just put up. The male is now about 2.5-3 ft and the female is 4-4.5 ft. My questions are:

1. How big do they have to be to breed?

2. How do I tell when they are both ready to breed?

3. Do I need to keep them in the same tank for a few days?

4. Anyone have any tips or can help me out, feel free to give any info!

Thanks in advance!!!

You're going to need a scale to wieght the female. She should be no smaller than 1200g though 1500g is much better. Before you go any further you really need to make sure she's of good wieght and health prior to attempting to breed.

Sounds like the male should be of correct size, but again he should be in good health.

You're most likely not going to get them to breed until later this year when the season starts back up in 6-7 months without tricking them.

They should be put together around October (if I remember correctly) when their season starts. The female will usually indicate its getting close to breeding time by eating like a shark. (One of my girls was eating 5 rats a week)
Once you put them together, keep them together until the male is no longer interested. Most of the time, once a female is "caught," the male looses interest.
The biggie is just what Fe said; Make sure she is up to weight. You definitely don't want her underweight and gravid.
And, if I remember correctly, a bit of a temperature drop (not too much, though) helps move things along.

Thanks!

So, is there any other ways I can tell the female is ready other than her eating more? I'm going to be weighing them both this weekend.

Palpating for follicles is good to know how to do, but I don't know how to tell you over the internet, I've only been able to show people in person. If the females has them it's also a good indicator that she's ready, but only if she's of good size.

Well, i weighed her...she weighs 9 lbs. So i used my wonderful sell phone that has a converter on it for weight (an others) and that goes to 4082 g. does this sound right for a 4.5 ft female?
