Questions about females laying eggs

Hello! I'm having some trouble researching this question so I thought a forum would be a good place to ask, also I hope it doesn't come out too wordy either! Anyway I plan on getting a leo someday but not until I've done plenty of research. Today I learned that females can lay eggs without being bred with a male, similar to chickens.
What I wanted to know is, at what age does that occur, and how often? Also will laying eggs without ever being bred with a male pose certain health risks since I do not plan on breeding geckos?? Kind of like how if a cat goes into heat a lot they might get very sick, I know reptiles and mammals are completely different but as someone who doesn't have much experience with reptiles I don't think it would hurt for me to ask :)

It's actually pretty rare for a female gecko to lay eggs if they have never been around a male. Usually they ovulate and then re-absorb the undeveloped eggs. Ozy has been Ovulating on and off for about a month now and not one egg in sight.

I've had a couple lay eggs without being with a male. One was pretty young, around 6 months old. But most will re-absorb the eggs. Make sure she gets plenty of food and calcium. Many geckos won't eat while ovulating, so don't be alarmed. I even have a couple males that go off food when there are ovulating females around. They will eventually gain the weight back.
