Questions on building a tank.

I was wanting to get a bigger tank for my gecko, But I wanted to make one so I could add custom features to it of my own.

I have a few questions about what to use.

I have easy access to a large amount of plexi glass and sealants. Would it be possible to build the entire tank out of plexi glass and not real glass? I would add more support around the top and bottom to hold in place but it would be very cheap for me to do this and if I can I will. Would the plexi glass be able to hand the heat from a uth?

Or is this not a good idea?

I would love to hear some of your ideas or what you have done in the past to build tanks!

Thanks

I have a custom little cage I build from thin wood and plexiglass. The bottom is plexiglass and so is the viewing window. The rest has a custom scenery glued on the wood. It holds heat pretty well

That is a great Idea. I think I might do something like that with the scenery. I might try to make something that can disassembled and reassembled for easy cleaning. kind of like a false bottom but just make it where I can take the sides of the tank off. and remove the bottom for cleaning.

I've built a few cages with lexan, which I think is just a more durable version of plexiglass. But I doubt even regular plexiglass would have any issues with a UTH attached even if it peaked at 110-120. Most plexiglass doesn't even start becoming plyable till the upper 200's(f not c) I think its melting point is well over 300 degrees.
