I just bought myself 75 adult female, 12 adult males, and 100 1"+ mixed sex dubia roaches. So I have close to 200 right now. I plan on breeding them and having lots around. What size totes are people keeping their colonies of 1000-2000 in? What are the most common sizes people are using for housing? I plan on having plenty of totes for the various sizes of roaches, just not sure on what size totes to buy yet. Thanks for your help!

I use the rubbermaid 30 -40 gallon totes for my breeding colonies and the smaller totes, I guess they would be around 20 gal. for my feeders. I usually clean out my breeding tote about once a month sometimes twice. I like using the smaller totes for my feeders because catching and maintaining them is much easier

I use a 50 gallon Rubbermaid for my breeding colony. I started about 5 months ago with 500 mixed nymphs. Now I am going on 3,000 or more. I sort the adults from the nymphs and put the adults back in the 50 gallon rubbermaid. Then sort all the others in to sizes with drilled holes in buckets and just shake each bucket until no more fall through, dump that size in to a 18qt tub in my rack and keep repeating for 3 more sizes. Very simple for me.

I just have a small breeding colony of 25 females and 10 males. they are in an 18 gallon rubbermaid tub. I use a Kritter Keeper for the ones I'm going to feed. I'm just feeding one gecko though. My colony isn't REALLY established though because I just got it. :p

I have one other question. In a 35 gallon tub, how many breeding adult roaches would I want to keep in one bin....100, 200, 500, 1000? Thanks for your help!
