Quick question about shed and regrowing tail

My little rescue girl dropped her tail before I got her (16 days ago) and has in the past 3 or so days gone through her first shed with me.

There is just the tiniest bit still left on the tip of her regenerating tail. I tried soaking her, but since I've had her for such a short time she's still totally unused to being handled. I was able to loosen it, but didn't want to pull on it too much since she's already dropped her tail once, and didn't want to stress her even more.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Should I try again? Just leave it? I don't have any good pictures because as soon as I put her back she crawled into her hide and I didn't want to bother her any more.

She's in motion here, but at least you can get an idea of what's going on, and if you're really good, even spot the shed on her tail ;)

is it all the way around the tail or just like on the side of it? If it's not a complete ring around the tail then you can just leave it for now. Won't do any damage. On the other hand, if it's a complete ring around the tail you should try to get it off cause it could restrict the growth, even cut the blood supply if it gets too tight, similar to toes.

Okay I'll give it another try tonight. She's in her moist hide right now.

Is it okay to pull on it though? I tried to keep getting it wet and rubbing it off with a qtip and it mostly stayed put. I'm just worried if it's too much she's drop tail again.

It's just the very tip of it. When I put her in warm water, she literally holds the tail above the waterline, and if I make it any higher she goes into a panic. She's on a very soggy paper towel right now.

Spent about 40 minutes trying to ease it off with a qtip in between soaks in moisture. None came off and we're both stressed now. :main_thumbsdown:

I THINK it should be okay to leave for now. If the edges are free you can try to use a tweezer and gently pull it off after its been soaked. If it doesn't come off easily with a tweezer just leave it

I will try again tomorrow. I just really do not want this poor girl to drop her little regrowing nubbin. Leaving it just might be the lesser of the two evils. Thanks for your help.

I agree i think it will be fine, it should come off its self in time or in the next shed. mine droped hers a few months ago, its amazing watching it slowly grow back and become spotty :p

UPDATE!

She shed again two nights ago and it came off! The tail does look a little pinched at the very tip where the shed remained, but I think it was better to leave it than risk her dropping the tail again.
