just got my new 6qt containers 24 container rack from animal plastics, my question is, my breeder rack i have 90 at the warm spot, and about 70 on the cool side, i cant get a big variation on the new rack because the containers are so small, i dropped the warm spot down to like 82-85 so that i could get the cool side to about 73-76. The thing that bothers me is oviously that the warm side isnt warm enough, and the cool side isnt cool enough, which should i be more worried about, i know both are importaint but im kinda in a bind, tried to find the happy median between both but i thought maybe someone else would be able to give their 2 cents on the matter. and also, is a 6qt container to small to house a single adult in? Origionally planned on also keeping my males in the rack when they werent breeding, but now since i got the rack, im questioning if the containers are large enough for an adult or not.

I heard something about A sweater box Rubbermaid container is approximately one foot in width and two feet in length. Rack systems are custom made cages that look a lot like a chest of drawers, the plastic containers pull out from the frame as a drawer pulls out from a cabinet. Running along the back side of rack systems is usually some type of heat tape, regulated by a thermostat to prevent a fire hazard

and I think the boxes are numbered so either look for a sweater box or #3 I think thats the one people use to house adults via rack system

hope I helped

I also have A/P racks, and had the same challenge. I had to make more holes in the containers, both front and back, to get a decent thermal gradient.

I would not worry so much about the low as the high but thats just me, the low will normally be around room temps and the high 92.

I would not put an adult in a 6qt, 2 hatchlings in a 6 qt til they grow up a little but not an adult.

Sweater boxes, 15 qt or so are better for adults.

A 6qt is a shoebox for hatchlings IMO

6 qt Is way too small for an adult.

I use...
6 qt for hatchlings
12 qt for juvies
and 16 qt for adults

Are these US qt ? dry or liquid ?

Im having an hard time finding them. I want them all to be 6 inch tall and do want three sizes. Would you have the model number of them and the make ? I guess it's either rubbermaid or sterilite ?

Thanks
Patrick
