Rack heat tape setup

If I build a (based on 32 quart tub) 2 wide 8 high rack can I use 1 piece of heat tape connected to one thermostat throughout the rack or will the heat build up to much on the top shelves.

If so would sectioning the top half and them bottom half with 2 seperate sections of heat tape be acceptable.

Or would this still cause fluctuations enough that I would need to use a 3 section heat tape system (top, mid, low)

I've got the same setup only it's seven shelves high. I have the rack split into 4 (top) and 3 (botton) shelf zones and it works pretty good. I would not run all the shelves as one zone as the bottom will be too cool and the top will be too warm. Three zones would be even better but the your using up three outputs on your contoller.
