Hey all I was going to build a new rack system in the spring and had a question. I built one 10 years ago for my snake collection. We used flex watt before and I was planning that again I just can't remember the tubs I used. Will the 6 watt flex watt burn up Sterlite shoe box containers?

Agree with stellar if you use a good thermostat you'll be perfectly fine. And far as thermostat I recommend a herpastat by spyder robotixs there really good and won't kill your wallet

For a thermostat, there is no need to go pay 100 dollars for one of them. Go to amazon and type in hydrofarm thermostat. It's 30 bucks shipped and it's digital. Works great. Keeps my tubs consistent from 90-93. Wouldn't use this thermostat for incubators but for racks it's a steal

Cool thanks for the great advice guys. I am getting nervous about my spring rack project. I just checked my temp downstairs in the basement and unfortunately I am at a room temp of 65 F. Now we are in the middle of winter and it will get warmer, but I am wondering if I will be able to get my ambient temps up to 75 F?

I have had the same problems in the past. My gecko room is in the basement and even though im in Atlanta, the ambient wouldnt go much above 70. I bought a little space heater from Costco for 30 bucks and i only turn it on at night time(i dont trust leaving it on when im at work or at class). Its a small room and i set the heater to 73 and it bumps up my ambient to 75. But, the geckos are smart and know when it is winter, summer, spring, or fall. extra heat helps but the geckos just dont eat as much this time of year.

Turned my heater on today to try out changing the temp. Instead of starting a new thread. I also have a question about my 40l breeder tank. I have no geckos in it yet as I am trying to get it properly heated. It has a full screen top and I am using a 5.5" lamp with a 75watt basking light on one side and a reptherm under tank heater on the other with those both on the temp at the top of the tank on the right side won't get above 75. Do I need a larger light or give it a day to get heated?
