I´ll build one in 3 weeks with 12 underbedtubes to put under may terrarium. It will be for my Hatchlings. I plan on making a documentation but as said it will take around 3 weeks to start with it but I can pm you when it´s ready.

That´s a real good Link Paul THX. I will do it nearly the same way just with bigger tubes and only 12.
The Rack will have 3 rows with each 4 tubes one upon the other.
The rows will be seperated to increase the stability as on top will be 2 terrariums 120cm*60cm*60cm with Sand inside which will weight a bit^^.
I will also use UTH (not realy easier to make with Heatkables but it works better for the emission of heat to hold the temp. in the tubes.
The whole thing will modulated over a thermostat^^.#
And I´ll have a Back as the Room isn´t temperated^^.

BTW I would love to take Felxwatt it makes everything so easy but in Germany we have a different grid...

BTW²: These Shoeboxes are they for the Hatchlings or do you hold adults in there?

Nice rack! I like Melamine, before finding the XPVC was so readily available and easy to work with, I built all my previous racks and even cages using it. My only complaint was they weighed a ton, I had them on casters to roll for cleaning. With Melamine you also have to be careful of spills, but if maintained should last many many years. I had some 5yr old cages made of melamine that snakes spilled a gallon of water in and since they were sealed properly, no damage. Even after 5yrs of wear and tear, they looked and functioned like new.

Not trying to bash that great rack Steve, but the wiring can be a fire hazard. Think about it, if the wood gets wet, it will short. That is the only thing I would change. That is a great rack. Scales, how come you can get those racks to look so perfect? They have nothing wrong with them! They are perfect! I am jelious! Here is a rack I built about 2 weeks ago. Its 20 bins, they are 16 qt each. About $4 each, I got a steal, about $2.10 each!

Thanks, they were super easy to build. If you can build a rack out of Melamine or any wood, you can build one out of XPVC with the same or even less effort. That rack that holds 40 12qt tubs or 20 28qt tubs or a mixture of the two tubs was about $268.00 w/flexwatt. It took only a few hours to build and was my first rack using XPVC.

Steve, how does that wiring work out for you? I actually like the screw idea alot. I wonder ...I guess its pretty safe, If all else fails it would trip te breaker right...

Not always, if that electricity is dimmed by a thermostat and not at 120 volts it wouldn't trip. It would simmer and burn. That is the only thing I would change. But it is a great rack.
