Who here uses Breeding Racks from ReptileBasics? I was told to get those racks from them but am unsure. If anybody here uses ReptileBasics bins, what size do you use? Thanks...

I don't have any of their racks, but get my ultratherm UTHs through there. I can say they have GREAT customer service! :main_thumbsup:

I use all ReptileBasic racks. I especially love the tubs, all very easy to clean with no creases for bacterial buildup. Also when you purchase the rack, the tubs and heat is included, and already assembled. That is a HUGE weight off me as I'm pretty much all thumbs when it comes to building stuff. :p

Thank you so much. I have a few more questions about these racks since I know you have them. What sizes do you use? Also, can you request belly heat be installed rather than the back heat for the 12 tub rack? Thanks...

Reptile basics are some of the best racks on the market in my opinion and the owner is a very helpful and honest man.

I've got a few different kinds set up. I use the 32 qt belly heat sweaterbox racks, the MCB-S (7 tub racks) and the 16 tub shoebox racks.

I like the 32qt racks for keeping breeding females because it gives room for a nice sized laying hide. The MCB-S are perfect for single housing any adult, but I'm not in love with them for keeping breeding females in, just doesn't seem to be a lot of room for a hide (I'll go get a picture of one of mine in a sec). The 16tub shoe box racks are awesome for growing out babies until their big enough to move up into a larger rack.

I'll go get some pictures of mine and come back with a little more visual description.

Okay this first picture shows the small shoebox size tub rack. The gecko modelling it weighed in at 34grams three days ago, so that's about the size that the box is getting too small and he's looking to move up into a bigger tub. But still, you can see he still has a bit of room in it. (The tubs just to the left of him have pictus and androyensis geckos, that's why the substrate is different)

This next picture is the midsized rack, which is what I'd recommend if you like to house your geckos all individually. But I'm not totally in love with it for breeding females. You can see that this girls laying bowl takes up about half the tub, which is kind of crappy. This is a 58 gram female raptor, so that should give you a fair idea of the size of the tub. Even big males do great in it.

This last picture is the big sweater box rack, which is AWESOME! Lots of floorspace. The female in here has been scratching around the last few days getting ready to lay her eggs, so I haven't cleaned the cage out and that's why it's a bit messy right now. She's a big 67 grams and loves the extra space. This would be a good box for anyone wanting to breed giants or super giants. :main_thumbsup:

Thank you so much. Sorry for all the questions but I just want what's best for the geckos.

How do you heat the 16 Tub and 7 Tub Racks? On ReptileBasics it only offers back heat. Thanks...

As they say on the site, they're back heat. Which sucks, but I live with it. When I get the time I plan on cutting down a bunch of stone tile for the backs of the tubs which should retain heat pretty well and offer a warm place to belly down on, but until then my guys have to make do with what they got.

Wouldnt they give you the option to install the heat tape/wire on the bottom, instead of the back? Maybe you can ask to get the rack w/ out heat and install it yourself?

They'll install it on the belly of the larger racks but not the shoebox size. From my understanding of the size of the tape used and the small size of the tubs it would cover too much floorspace and become dangerous. With the small size of these boxes it would probably be safer to use heating cable rather than the wide tapes if you went with a floor heat.

And how does the back heat work for your geckos? Thanks...
