Rainbow Mealies

Ok so I was reading some old threads and found this information... http://www.geckoforums.net/showthread.php?t=3620 ...I went to my local pet store when i was low on mealies (I hate this family owned petstore) and the gave me Rainbow Mealies..the container does not say giant though the mealworms do appear large to me..most are about an inch long which sounds normal..my biggest issue is i haven't any other options for buying feeders locally and after buying these I open them up at home and they smell horribly sour like when u leave an apple in there too long. a lot were dead and for the price i was charged i was angry but what bothered most was the smell..i was scared to feed them to my geckos..What do you all think? Should i toss them and get dif somewhere else? Means I either have to go 40 miles out of my own way to get them or order offline with great prices but adds up about the saem as local with shipping (and no CC lol) idk but I don't want them getting hurt or sick. Thanks

When you buy mealworms/other insects that come in a cup from any store always open the cup and look inside to make sure the vast majority of them are alive and that they smell right. Honestly, what I would do in that situation would be to call up the store, tell them that you were sold a cup of dead, smelly mealworms and you would like an exchange for a fresh cup or your money back.

I suggest just buying online. You can get more than the local pet store will offer and way cheaper. I havent had a issue ordering mealworms from online stores in the past.

ok think i will do that (order online) I can get 1000 for less then 8 bucks online where the 50 i bought here was almost 3..yes fifty mealies for almost 4 dollars..will be ordering online from now on i think..thanks for input all
