ive been looking at pictures and i just dont understand what makes a RAPTOR a RAPTOR when you compair it to other things that look just like RAPTORS. ive seen a couple times so far, some animals i would say were just RERS. but they were labled as raptors. so i had this good idea of what RAPTORS are, but now as of the past couple days, im a little confused. take for instaince. this little guy that i hatched out. i along with a bunch of other beleaved this was a RERS. but tonight i was admiring him, and noticed (while he is in almost full shed so ill get some pics as soon as hes done) that he is begining to form orange stripes down his back in the form of a red stripe, and he head is begining to become a carrot head. but here is a shot of him, and just picture with a carrot head, and the 2 red stripes. why wouldnt he be a RAPTOR???

A true raptor has no pattern as its body, Its Ruby eye, Albino, PATTERNLESS, Tremper albino, ORange. Which spells R.A.P.T.OR.

That is what i feel a true raptor should be since that the patternless (not murphy) gene played a big role in the firat APTOR, they key was to be a patternless albino with a nice orange body. But it doesnt bother me when people refer them differntly. bc the Raptor genes are not trult figuered out yet!

Byt i would consider yours a raptor, and if it has a reverse stripe i would call it a Reverse Stripe Raptor aka RERS

i agree with you. so thats what i was asking. but the ones i seen advertized as RAPTORs were on some pages that i didnt think i would have seen them on. meaning that in my eyes those breeders are very reliable, its just confusing to me. thats all
thanks for your reply

You guys are right a "Raptor" should be an Aptor as far as pattern, and anything else should be called "Ruby Eyed" Reverse Stripe, or Jungle, etc.

The problem I am seeing is that, some Aptors/Patternless Stripes do have some pattern, and people are thinking they have Reverse Stripes, when they have Aptors instead. Its an easy mistake to make tho`!

They do not have to be fully patternless, to be an Aptor, and if you had hatched many geckos from a R/Aptor project, you`de easily see, a trully patternless one is pretty rare. We would almost never have a "true" Raptor if we went by that standard!

Some Aptors will have a row of circular spots in the shape of a reverse stripe, but they do not connect to one another. Some will start with pattern that dissapears as they grow, and some will start with no pattern then gain alot of spots. Each is different, they are kind of like snowflakes lol Here is a pic of my Aptor(original release), you can see how he is alot like a reverse stripe.

Nevin, the female you just asked me about is in that pic too.

What are the parents? The male you got from me does have some Red Stripe in him.

I think that this one is more of a Raptor, than a RERS.
