Really confused now

Okay, so you know my other thread about how my leo is drinking fine but completely refusing food. It's now been 6 days since she's eaten (but she is drinking fine). Just a bit ago, after about 5 days of no poop, she randomly pooped a big white/gray poop (kind of looks like a white slug) and it had the usual urate on top of it. What could this giant white poop/blob be? I know for a fact that she hasn't eaten in 6 days so it doesn't make any sense to me that she would have, whatever this consists of, to poop out since she hasn't been eating at all. She's going into the vet this week but any idea what this could possibly be? :main_huh:

shed skin possibly.. impaction possibly, worm mass possibly... pick it apart and see if you can identify anything if you feel it's important.

She's on slate and has been pooping fine (before whatever her issue is now) so it's not impaction. She shed a week ago so I don't think it's that. What do worm masses look like?

depends what kind of worms. most will look like a slimey clear snot mass....sometimes you will be able to see worms if it is fresh enough.
Yeah this one isn't like a snotty pool. It kept its "shape". Maybe it's still worms.

i'm pretty sure i've seen something like that in one of my bins at some point. no worms here. she shed a week ago and ate the shed? and did she poop at any point between then and now?

i'm voting shed skin that she ate and pooped out.

Well the origin of her problem started last monday when it appeared she regurgitated her shed (there was a crumpled up ball of it outside her humid hide). She hasn't eaten since then but pooped once the next day. And she also hasn't eaten a single thing since then also.

that is more than likely what it is, but without seeing a pic it is hard to speculate...and just so you know, the worm blobs do keep shape, they dont look like a "spit" on the surface, but a globby mass

I'm thinking it's probably a worm mass judging by her lack of appetite and regurgitation motion she occasionally has made (mentioned in my other thread).

how long have you had this animal, and where did you get it from???

I've had her for a little over 2 weeks now. Got her from Petco (my first mistake). She was eating like a machine until last sunday and then after her shed (monday) had the runny snot poop and then didn't eat or poop once since then. She drinks fine but just won't touch food.

getting the animal from a petstore, you never know what the animal has been exposed to prior to either you or the store aquired the animal. those stores will usually buy from the cheapest supplier they can find. even the ones that buy from "their own breeders" get them from wholesalers who dont give a fart about the animals...its really unfortunate, but it is the cold hard truth. i was actually selling high quality (normals and morph) cresties and some colubrids i was producing to a "big chain" store local to me for a while, then they started buying from a wholesaler...because they got them cheaper. the quality really went into the toilet! they even changed the husbandry!!! i showed them how to set the babies up and everything when i first started selling them babies. the manager who was working there when i started selling them babies actually wanted to set the reptiles up correctly, and take care of them. he actually quit because the big shot came in and wanted ALL the reptiles set up the same, no matter what the species....i guess they had a disagreement and the mgr quit....anyways, that is how the big chain stores work. next time buy from a breeder.

Yeah I'm well aware of the error of buying at Petco. This is the third one I've bought from there that ended up being sick.

That is really sad. I think that they just set them up the way that "looks best". Most leo enclosures I see at the chain pet stores have the poor little scrawny things on sand with bright lights shining on them, and often very little hiding space. I think this is partly why they get bad care when bought by someone who is not very educated about their care; they see the set up at the store, and try to replicate it.

There is one PetSmart near me has their leos set up halfway decent. Reptile carpet, dimmer lighting and a couple of hiding spots. I can't usually see any leos in the enclosure, something a lot of pet stores try to avoid I'm sure, but it's better for the leos.

I went to the Kahoots by me today was was pleased to see that they actually kept each leo in their own separate, BIG, tank. It wasn't the usual Petco setup with 5 near dead leos all laying on top of each other, baking under the light.
