reattaching a UTH

so, i just moved my geckos into a bigger tank. i do not have money to buy another UTH, so i just removed it and stuck it on to the new tank. i know it says in the instructions not to do that, but it's been working fine for a few hours.

is there really any harm to doing this? i've read online that people have done it a lot with no problems.

no its fine. where i work the heaters arent even attached to the tanks they just sit underneath one side.
Although I would get a new one when you get a chance just so that the UTH fits the tank properly. Your hot spot is going to be rather small compared to the cool side. Temps might be out of whack due to that, like the cool side being tooo cool.

well, before i had a 10 gallon and now i have a 20 gallon. the heater i have is for a 10-20gallon...should i still get a bigger one?

thats what i use for my 20gal long and for my 10gal so i dont think its a problem if its for a 10-20
