recommended cricket feed alternate..

looking for cheap effective ways to feed crickets. also question..is cat food safe for crickets? i fed my crickets cat food and had a ton die in a few days period..maybe 70 of 200 total..not sure if it was normal deaths or the food..it was my first time using cat food so im kind of scared lol..

id prefer to use cat food but im still open to cheap options..
