Me and the girl went out today for some more herping fun.

This time we went 25 minutes west of Las Vegas. We were out for a little over an hour, lil, micro herping.

A lot of other usual things..

Bats..
Kangaroo rat.
3"+ Praying mantis
An even smaller kit fox, so darn cute..Always too fast to nab pics of.

A couple tarantulas, the legs seem a little lighter in color than the Valley of Fire kind.

And my highlight, he was fun to pick up and play with for a while ! I couldnt find my snake hook, so had my fun with a bamboo stick. He was very calm, an intresting demeanor. Over 3+ feet.

Of all snakes it had to be a pituophis! I've ALWAYS wanted to find one that would be the #1 genus I'd want to find right after rattlers. Nice find do, I thought you didn't catch it? BTW those guys are harmless should be a gopher snake I believe not sure how west bullsnake live. I just held a 7.5' female northern pine this week when I picked up some feeders from a local breeder.

It didnt hiss or strike like a bull?? Than again, snakes are not my field lol...

I didn't take him home :main_no:
I think its a great basin gopher as thats all I can find as native to NV yet they are in the same genus as bull snakes. I've always admired them and their size and would like to get a bull when I move.

Yet we need more locations! If nothing new I'd like to hang out in VOF earlier maybe 2-3 hours before sunset and scope out that one area we stopped and noticed the stars and then drive around some more starting right at sun set.
