After wanting one forever, back in December, I got a teeny tiny Chaco Gold Knee, slapped a bow on the box and told Tim thanks for the Christmas present.

She was soooo tiny!! But it was love at first sight.

We put her in almost the smallest critter keeper we could find and she still had loads of room.

Well, my little Rosita is growing up and I figured since she could almost touch both sides of her home when she stood in the middle, it was time to upgrade.
Old efficiency next to new 5 gallon condo.

Once she caught her bearings, she seemed to really groove on the new digs.

Getting pretty big, eh?

Rosita has grown quite a lot since December. Fingers crossed that she's a girl! She's beautiful, K!

I miss my Chaco. :( They're so very under-rated! :main_yes:

That's a very nice 5 gal. tank too, btw.

Lovely girl you have there. :main_thumbsup: She did get big! My chaco has molted twice already in my care. I also acquired him in December. I bought him when he was 4" and is now a little over 5".

Great looking chaco. I raised one from a bald little thing to subadult, but it turned out to be a male. I didn't feel like dishing out the money for a mature female, so I sold him off. He was as tame as they come, really a great pet.

why is it only the females people want of these, to were they get rid of found out males after raising, and not wanting to get mature females for them(why does it matter)?

Males live considerably shorter lives than females. When they prove out to be male, an owner only has about a year to find a mate for him before the old guy dies. Alot of times, if an owner doesn't have, or can't get a hold of a mature female, the male will be sold off to someone who does have one, or in some cases, used for a breeding loan, with a good chance he'll never come back.

A male tarantulas whole life purpose is to grow up, make baby Ts and die.

I'm sure theres other reasons that other T owners can elaborate on.

Hey, Greg! Are you gonna be putting up pics of your little one? I'd love to see how s/he's grown! Do you know if its male or female yet?

Is this your first Chaco? You are going to LOVE it! They are the most awsome terrestrial spider. Can't beat their personalities.

And thank you for the compliment! :D

Aw! What a little cutie!!! :D
So hows the temperment on the Red Knee? I've heard they're pretty easy to work with. (Thats one of the many Brachys on my wish-list)

Oh, he's a doll. I actually just handled him for the first time the other day. He was a bit flighty when i got him and i didnt want to take the chance of losing him. Now that he's a bit bigger he's calmer and much easier :D

This is my red-knee

Oh my gosh! She has grown REALLY fast! You are doing a great job with her! :main_thumbsup: My little chaco has been growing painfully slow...but she eats like a bird! :main_huh: When I get home tomorrow, I will post some pics...I've been promising them for a while but have run out of excuses and just got a new camera. :) So you can look out for those tomorrow evening. ;)
