Hi.

I switched from newspaper to Repti carpet and the only thing that seems odd to me is that my gecko is always getting stuck on the little fine fibers when he hunts for crickets, can't that hurt him?

I started out using repti-carpet and after repeatedly watching my gecko getting stuck on the fibers I quickly switched to tile. I'm not sure if it's dangerous for them, but it certainly didn't look like it felt too good :main_laugh:

A lot of people use tile, it holds heat well and you can get naturalistic looking pieces. I use the repti-carpet by Zilla, and I have never seen my leo get stuck.

I had the same problem. Their little toes kept sticking to it.
I had to take it out.
Now I use absobant paper used to line lab benches. Its paper towel on one
side, plastic film on the other. Works great, as long as my employer keeps buying it! :D

Ah-ha, same shit again, I told you guys to use sand, but you didn't listen.
Carpets are bad for your gecko's feet and WILL seriously hurt your gecko!!!
Carpets should only goes under the sand!!! That way keep your gecko from reaching the bottom of the tank where heatpad is placed.
So change your tank setup soon before it get worse!!!

You have to be joking right? When your geckos dead from a belly full of sand we'll see what substrate is worse.

Are we on the sand debate again?
How many times do people need to be told, DO NOT use sand.
I dont care what kind it is, or how old your leo is, they WILL injest it.
If you dont believe me, ask any vet who knows anything about herps.

End of discussion!!??
