I have raised two hatchling box turtles with reptomin food sticks. They are about 1.5 to 2 years old now and healthy with no pyramiding. Of course I don't mean they only eat reptomin. They have always gotten a large variety diet, but reptomin was invaluable for getting them started with veggies. I would soak the reptomin and then mash it up with the veggies mixed in. That always worked. I still use it as part of a varied diet, in addition to nightcrawlers, superworms, mealworms, spring mix, assorted veggies and berries, etc.

Hi,

My experiences with several species of American box turtles has been the same; thanks very much...good point, as most folks think of Reptomin as a food for aquatic turtles only, Best, Frank

I will add though, that my box turtles have grown very big very fast. The shells are beautiful and no pyramiding, but they are big. I have a baby that is 17 months old. He/she is about 230 grams in weight and about 4.25 inches SCL. Which I'm told is more the size of a 3 to 4 year old. The other baby grew at the same rate and same sizes at comparable ages. That particular baby is a Gulf Coast though, so should be a bit bigger.
