blaptica dubia roaches. are you sure you have both male and female? the males have wings, and the females have little wing stubs. a lot of people keep them in a 58qt. how is the humidity? they dont like a lot of it. it takes them about a month to have babies, and they give birth to live young. my good friend breeds them, and nobody can beat his prices. i dont know if i am allowed to give his website or not.

I breed them and have no problems.. Here is my setup..

1 - 58 Quart Rubberneck container (non see through)
2 - Soldered holes in two rows around the top of the tub and lid (like a leo tub)
3 -A dish of food ( I use a mixture of organic ferret food, organic cat food, and gutload and vitamins)

4- a dish with Water Crystals that I change about every 2-3 days

and about 6-8 egg crates

I keep them in my garage in a spare half bathroom with the lights out at all times.. It's nice and moist out there and stays around 80-90 most of the time.

I try to leave them alone as much as humanly possible. The won't breed if constantly disturbed.

I've actually seen females holding out their egg cases to get air.

I started with around 20 adult pairs and around 200 or so mixed sized nymphs and now I have countless adults because they aged and babies constantly..

I created a second tub colony so that I can feed off of each one in an alternating order.. Giving time to replenish.

Check your temps and humidity levels.
Make sure it's dark as much as possible.
Leave them alone as much as possible.
Lastly, keep food and water supply freshened.

Good luck..

Roaches small brains are ruled by three things. Food, mating, and defecating.

They will breed don't worry..

good looking roaches... odd enough as that sounds..

Yeah they really need darkness to feel comfortable enough to breed. What many people do and you may want to give it a try is once you get your rubberneck all setup - put it in a closet and check on them about 3 times a week.

i love these little guys.. they are an awesome feeder and reproduce quickly enough once they get going. They also don't climb, don't stink, and are slow enough that I can catch one if it happens to slip out..

I actually cleaned out my bins of my two colonies today and found out really just how many adults I have.. It's unreal.. I must have over 100 adults..

My colony is up and going now, I have them eating a really good chicken feed which is really nutrition and promotes egg growth in chickens, which I hope carrys over to the leos, lol. I also give them orange slices every couple of days for moisture. I bought some 1/2" to 3/4" roaches a few months back and notice babies daily already. They will come trust me.

Reading that post on the roach forum, sounds like most of the roaches have defense smells, do they all? What is the best non climber that doesnt have a defense smell?

Well, I set my roaches up in different containers. When doing this I noticed lil baby roaches dangit. Should I move them back? Another problem. I cannot figure out how to heat these, should I just use a UTH?

I would say leave it as it, the babies will eat on their own so there is no need for adults to be with them (not from my experience anyway, they seem to take care of themselves), and yes an undertank heater will work great on the bottom of the tubs.
