I have fruit flies!.. AND not on purpose mind you....I have a pair of cresteds and the food is attracting them!!!.... any one else?.. How do I get rid ofthe flies??????

I also have roaches.... THIS IS on purpose!....lol

I want to feed the roaches in a dish, BUT even tho they are turkestan roaches, they seem to be climbing out! I tried using sandwich sized storage containers and cutting a big hole in the middle of the lid, thinking that this would deter the little buggers... it hasn't and when they climb out they just hide under the newspapers and don't get eaten.

Has any one used "roach stop" in a food dish, does it "off gas"
Any suggestions for home remedies until I can pick up a product?

Thanks, Danielle

I don't know about the fruit flys.

But when I had bearded dragons I bred my roaches. I found that if I use those things that go at the bottom of plant pots so the water doesn't go all over the place. (large ones found at wal-mart in garden section for .88c US bought mine in michigan.) That it is ethier impossible for Dubia's to get out or the odd one would like climb on top of like 3 of them and get out.

I would get a picture but I lost my uvb cable.

Ive found that for getting rid of fruit flies, you can make a pretty simple trap. If you take a jar, and a piece of paper, some tape, and some fruit its easy.

Take the paper and make it into a funnel with a very small opening, and wide enough to be bigger than the diameter of the jar mouth. Tape it.

Throw some of the fruit into the bottom of the jar (Bait) and tape the funnel into place in the mouth of the jar, small opening close to the bait. This usually works like a minnow trap, easy to get into, but it's hard for them to find the opening to get out.

Once it's got some in there, throw it in the freezer to kill the fruit flies, refill the fruit, and try again. Using this, and feeding less fruit/leaving less to lie around should get rid of them, or at least some of them:D

Another good trick for the fruit flies is mixing cheap bourbon and sugar in a cup and put it near the problem area (ie. beside the enclosure) The flies will be attracted into the cup and not be able to escape.
