This may be a silly question but I am very new to leopard geckos.

Is it safe to feed a 3-5 month old (not 100% sure on age) to eat an adult Dubia Roach?

I am trying to fatten up my newest leo since he is a little underweight and have an established colony of Dubias with way too many adults.

I am a relatively new gecko owner also so I don't know the answer to your question but I have a question for ya. I have never seen roaches being sold at the various local pet store chains. Where do you find roaches? And are roaches a better food source for leo's than crickets, meal worms, etc or just an addition to those dinner items?

I bought my Dubias at the bug depot and nyworms since I don't have pet stores around here

I have heard they are a better food source but I am very much a newbie

You can definitely feed dubias. They are a great staple. Just look at the amount of space between the eyes and feed them a roach that is smaller than the space and you should be good.

No it is not ok for you to feed an adult dubia to a juvi. They are too big. Unless you want to cut them up. I would wait for adults until they are a year old. And at least 50 grams.

Thanks! I thought they would be too big so I fed a few of the younger one's to him instead just to be safe.

My Leo LOVES her Dubias. She is 39g and I only feed her nymphs. The adults would definitely be too big for her. I agree with the above poster that maybe 50-60g is probably an ok size to try an adult.

Just thinking about the adult Dubia is kind of creepy...they are HUGE!
