I spent the weekend with my son ( his first Air Show) and my father at the Rockford Airfest this last weekend and what a blast it was:main_thumbsup: . This was the first time that I have seen the Blue Angles in flight and the experience was one that I won't soon forget , it was even better than the last time I was there ( about 15 years ago or so before they shut it down). I was able to get a few shots off of the air show action and one of my son after the funnel cake sugar high kicked in LOL.

Awesome pics! I can't wait till this years airshow. Our air shows tend to get rained out and the last two years, just that happened. It's a real bummer to drive 3 1/2 hours just to turn around and head home. I love the pic of the f-15,f-16, and p-51 doing the tribute flight. Of course the angels always rock. Great pics!

Thanks everyone. It had been about 15 years since I was last at an airshow and I will say that they have gotten ALOT better. I didn't make it to last years show but I do believe it was a rain out over that weekend. The rain was threatening this year also (low cloud ceiling), so most of the show took place below 9500 feet. The coolest part was the takeoff of "Fat Albert", the Blue Angel's C-130 with jet assist ( in photo). The plane can take off in less than 1500 feet of runway and climb at a 45 degree angle ( unreal to see in person). They also landed a B-52 Bomber to show off on display. They said it was the first time in 20 years that one had landed in the Midwest. They had to take down 8,000 feet of runway lighting in order to be able to land it.
Here is a couple interesting items that you can strap a jet engine to. Incase you can't tell the first photo is a beer truck ( he reached about 350 mph). The second a port-o-potty:main_laugh: :main_thumbsup: . I'd say he had one too many Burritos:D
