Roommate disagreements

I just got two new And my first leos. The larger (I'm guessing around 20 grams) one was picked up 3 days ago and the second probably about a quarter or the size if that, was delivered today and introduced to the terrarium (30 or 40 gal, I'm not sure, I found it.) At first the original was a little squirmy to pick up but would calm down eventually, now she will not stop pissing on me and squirming until I put her down. When I introduced her to her new roommate, they first ignored each other for about 20 minutes then they acknowledged each other. They poked each other and licked a few times and went on their separate ways. I put some crickets in, the larger one ate but the smaller did not. Then the larger went into the rocks that I had set up for them in her normal spot. Then the second went to another spot in the same structure and about another 20 minutes later out came the smaller guy with her tail hanging off. She does not move much now, and pokes at her tail a lot. I separated them with a piece of acrylic in the same terrarium.

Just wondering if:
A) the smaller will be ok?? She has not eaten since I received her at 9 AM.
B) How long does it take for the tail to grow back?
C) How long should I wait to reintroduce them?
and D) Why did she attack? I'm assuming she bit and the smaller ran away, so what was the reason? they were both supposed to be females.

Sorry for being so long winded. I wanted to get it all out at once so people wouldn't ask any questions. (but please do if you have any). And thank you for listening and in advance for any responses.

You cant put gecko's together that are different sizes. They need to be about the same size and female from what I have gathered.

As far as the tail it takes a while, you need to keep her separate, make sure the enclosure she is in is kept very clean.

I would imagine they are both a little stressed now so I would try not to bother them to much for about a week except for cleaning and feeding.

I have two geckos that I put together. They are very different in size, but my larger female is pretty chill so we've never had problems.

The tail will take a few weeks to grow back, and it'll never look the same again. You should keep them separated however, to avoid further aggression issues, and perhaps try reintroducing them later when they're closer to the same size.

You can try neosporin on the tail too, to help prevent infection, and keep it clean.

housing two femalles together is optimum but there can still be aggression issues especially if one is larger then the other. I had two females together for about 2 weeks. One was about 10 grams smaller (both adults tho) They seemed to have gotten along and no fighting but the smaller wouldn't eat so I seperated them and now the smaller one is eating great again. It's the chance you take. I have found that since they aren't really a social creature other then mating that it is prolly best just to keep themin their own enclosures.

Good luck and hope her tail heals ok and grows back nicely for you.

for future reference any new reptiles you bring home should be quarantined for at least 30 days in a seperate set up, preferably in a seperate room. the first leo you got you've only had for three days which usually isn't long enough for it to get settled in, which is probably why it's not to calm when you hold it and using you as a bathroom. The size difference was definatly a no no. when housing two leos together you always take the chance of them fighting or one being bullied for food there fore you should have another set up ready to go incase you need to seperate them. imo if you gonna have to get another set up you might as well not chance it and just house them seperatly. research is always a good idea before jumping into a new pet, we are glad to answer any questions you have that can't be found in the search bar. i suggest putting the smaller gecko in a different set up away from the bigger gecko and make sure it,s eating well and getting plenty of calcium and vitamins to help its tail regrow. good luck :main_thumbsup:
