Safe paint

hi!
we are just about to finish building our Crestie's viv!, it is made of water/moist resistent mdf (didnt bother with wood because it is encased in a wall) but the mdf is greenish and not very nice/natural looking. so we want to paint it.
i was thinking bathroom paint since it is also water/moist resistent.
is it safe tho?, would we have to varnish over the paint?

I use craft like paint ACRYLIC and then a non toxic sealer ... let it dry i few days before you put the geckos in....

i recommend that you use acrylic paint and then seal over it with polyurethane or polycrylic
