So i had a friend of mine give me 3 baby savannah's to try and get them back to health. When i got them there were three lying there in a shoe box sized container, Super skinny and super cold. So i put a heat lamp on them to get em warm. They are supper skinny and refuse to eat on there own. so i tried force feeding them superworms cut in half and 1 of them just puked both chunks of worm out and i dont know what to do to get them to eat... I only took them cause i wanted to give them a fighting chance and im not doing to well right now and need help if anyone has any suggestions?

I would take them to the vets to be checked out as withone throwing up the food they could have parasites or other things from be cold and also see if you can get some fecal from one of them so that they can check for parasites,Best of luck and I hope they all survive I just love Savannahs wish I could have one but not at this time.

Okay. Get them a vet appointment ASAP. Until they get there, though, keep them warm and soak them to get them rehydrated.
Vomiting could mean parasites, but it also could mean the liver has shut down, and judging from how skinny you've described them, I'd be willing to bet it's liver failure. If they're save-able, ask the vet to give you some Nutri-Support powder and syringe feed them until they start showing signs of improvement.

Please keep us posted how they're doing. We're rootin' for 'em!

I agree with everyone else vet visit. I am currently caring for 2 babies. With yours, how they were housed and mistreated who knows what's going on inside. Try also maybe a frozen dog/cat high quality food. Like Natures Variety, Jake And Daisys etc. The meat content in there, in the mash might help them. Good luck!

Thats what i was told with the dog food im gunna start that tomorow morning. So far ive been force feeding them calcium'd crickets and mealworms and they've gotten slightly fatter but there still pretty moopy... Problem is i just lost my job and the nearest vet that works with reptiles is about 30 min away and i drive a 1980 camaro so you do the math in vet+Gas... So i havent been able to go. None of them have vomited anymore which is great. There turds are starting to come out more solid aswell so i must be doing something right.

So if they're still pretty lethargic, that sounds like it may be from the lack of calcium. As long as you're giving them the calcium, they should slowly start to perk up. Do you have a UV light on them?

Well guys so far hes still around. I just started giving him dog food yesterday. And ive been hand feeding him mealworms and crickets. I dont have a UV light on him but when im not at home i keep him right next to a huge open window and occasionaly take him outside and he walks around to get some UV. So i must be doing something right. Hes eating but doesnt seem to be gaining any weight. His body is fatter but the tail is still bony. Im not sure how much i should be feeding him daily.

For right now, I would recommend feeding him daily. It may sound morbid, but do you have access to some frozen thawed pinkie mice? They will usually jump at mice, so I'm thinking, if you can get one and dust it down with some calcium, maybe it would help bulk him up some. Whole prey items are usually better for these guys, anyways.

Give him the other food daily and reserve the mice for once a week, maybe?

The probelm is he wont even go after a mealworm on his own. The only one of the 4 that would go after crickets passed away a few weeks ago. This guys the only one left and has lasted me a few weeks since the others died. Ive become so attached i dont wanna lose it but if he wont even eat or drink on his own its so hard to pry its mouth open and force food down. I feel criminal doing this. I just want em to have a shot at life unlike his first owners gave him.

Heres some info, if you have this he should due fine. This is the problem with all these 10-40 dollar monitors, anyone can buy it yet they have no clue how to take of it and just throw it in a fish tank.

You can put him/her in a fish tank for now but it will need to have a solid top to keep all the humidity and heat in. They need a 120-130F min basking spot to properly digest there food and need a deep layer of dirt and some hiding spots. Feed mainly crickets, pinkies, roaches, super worms and any other insects

*low watt haglons outdoor floods from lowes/home depot are the way to go for lighting and get a temp gun.*

hope that helps

Currently hes a baby so i have em in a 10g with a screen top. So im guessing i need to get like a glass top or w/e to keep it humid. Cause when i take em outside he walks around, But in the tank he just lays there like dead. Thanks again. And if anyone has an answer to the lid question that would be great.

i would put him in a 40g and he will start to eat once everything i said was in order. Moist dirt (a good 8-12 inches for now), a basking spot in the 130 f range, hides, a solid top and a temperature gradient thoughout the cage

So its a sad day for me today. I have failed at saving this poor savannah. I feel horrible cause i lost my job and couldnt afford to take it to a vet. I found it cold this morning and burried it in my backyard. Thanks for those who tried to help...
