well my day started off horrible...then i got even worse news.
after alllll that, i walked into ******** to get a new toy for my puppy. theres 3 geckos in a cage together, about a 10galish. they all looked the same AGE but there was one super big one and two extremely small ones. their tails were almost too thin to see and their heads had sunken in. i could see all their joints/elbows and everything in their belly *not much*. so i decided to save them. i got home and put them in their new home and put food in there. all they did for a few days was sleep on the heat pad.
a week and about a billion pheonix worms later, they are still skinny but they have improved sooo much. they like to be handled and they are active :) so far so good, i havnt had any negative signs :)

week one

That is animal cruelty at it's finest, the store chain should be penalized for buying from a place that sells animals and keeps them in that condition, what a good person you are for spending your money and time on an animal that may not have made it, you have some good karma heading your way... it was those Gecko's lucky day you went doggy toy shopping!

i hope they all get better!!
you should separate them, get fecal tests done on all of them,
and do what youre doing with the heat and food :)
make sure they have plenty of calcium in their aquariums
and water too of course

I've had a similar experinece at the above mentioned pet store and what I did was talk to the manager in charge. She told me that the store itself now breeds there own geckos and that no one at the store really knows how to take care of them and there just told to sell them and if they die they'll just send them more. So I went through with her what they need to do and that they really shouldnt put 10 in a cage together even if they look to be the same size. She took it upon herself to take care of them and now there doing really well there. I go in a least once a week to get something for the dog and check up on them I even supplied them mealworms for awhile because all they had were crickets that were way to big to be feeding the babies. So at least those guys are doing well at that local store but for the most part the chains dont seem to put to much thought into the reptiles they sell and neither do the people because there not informed on how to. It's all about educating people.
