Saying goodbye to Tynthia

Thanks to everyone for all their help. Unfortunately, even after the vet visit, the Repta aide and the pedialyte baths, Tynthia, my 8-yr. old daughter's gecko, has continued to lose weight. She is now down to 3 g. I know we've tried everything, but it still hurts and she is so sweet. I held her for one last time tonight. She just stood still on my hand and eventually just closed her eyes and slept. We are going to the vets tomorrow to have her euthanized. I can't stand to see her starve anymore.

I'm angry that I let myself buy from a pet store. I'm even more angry that pet stores can sell 1 mo. old and younger reptiles. I will never buy from them again and will make sure that I let others know that things have to change and to not buy reptiles from these stores. My daughter has been crying on and off today, knowing that tomorrow she'll have to say good bye to her pet. Even though she only got to be with her for a few weeks, she still fell in love with her.

Thanks again for all of your help! I hope someday soon I'll be able to visit with a happier story and pics of a healthy, happy gecko.

My condolences on your loss. The hardest thing to do in life is to say goodbye for that one last time. I certainly hope that this experience hasn't turned you off from the wonderful world of herp keeping. Check out some expos in your area, get to see some great stuff and meet breeders.
