Hi,

I went and purchased a new set of scales. I wasnt real crazy about spending over 50 bucks on a set of scales but atleast I have a set now. anyhow do you use them? I guess the one I got is a postal scale but it has the "tare" feature which is nice. I also weighed my leo in last night and he weighed in at 29 grams. Should I be able to tell the sex at 29 grams? also how often do you weigh your gecko? Anyhow thanks and have a nice day.........Shaun

I use this scale. This will cost you over $50 after shipping.

Then yeah, most geckos can be sexed at 29.

Really I don't weigh my geckos that often, just when I think they might be big enough to breed. I guess I would do it before I put them up for sale as well, but I haven't got to do that yet. Then maybe when I just want to see how big they have gotten, if it seems like they are growing fast.

That's the scale we have and love it, I think we paid $55 shipped for it.

Yup... Glad to help. Unfortunately my "tare" button doesn’t work that great, it has Perlite in it.

I have a cheap little digital kitchen scale from Walmart - works great for the little ones and the wild birds we rehab as well!

would you believe that a peregrine chick that is just about to fledge is lighter than my male gecko!!!!!!!!! The hollow long bones really make a difference - unbelievable when we weighed the little chicks last week!

Does anyone know where I can find out approximate weight and sizes at certain ages - just so I know if my gecko's are okay or too small/underweight?
