Second mating attempt: she bit him!

So I put them both together again, the first 10 minutes was fine, then I saw Zhului starting to get irritated. At first she just walked away, then she stared into Marly's face. Marly stared back at her, shook his tail again and continued with what he had been doing (non-stop nipping). One moment later, Zhului turned around and chomp down on Marly's tail. No blood, but I can clearly see the jaw outline. I separated them immediately. I've seen other people post about how a female can take a chunk out of the male's tail, I really don't want that to happen.

Do you think I should try again any time soon? Or do I have to abort the breeding plan for now? I checked Zhului's belly, the ovulation pink spot isn't as obvious as before. These few days she'd pretty much stayed in her humid hide.

Ok, so I went to give Zhului something to eat, and found out she'd pooped. Any chance that she was needing to go to toilet but Marly kept bugging her so she bit him? She ate the silkworm I gave her.

The bite was just a warning bite. I'm sure the male got the picture. I have had many females bite the piss out of the male when they weren't ready. They will be fine. If you want to attempt to put them together again i would suggest waiting a few days.

I thought she was ovulating, and she has been receptive when we tried on Thursday. Its just that Marly hasn't figured out how to get it done, yet. Last week, she stopped eating, so I checked on her belly and I could see the pink spot. But when I checked her again last night after she bit Marly, I can't seem to see it anymore...maybe its the lighting; I'll take a look again today.

Here is a picture of her belly taken a week ago:

I just checked on her, she is almost ready to shed! Could this be why she got so irritated last night? I lifted her tail to check for the ovulation pink spot, think I can still see it (through the loosen skin). She is a little grumpy and waved her tail at me.

I think I'll let them try again after 4-5 days.

Sorry its me again! I just checked her for retained shed, plus I want to make sure she is still ovulating. Well, she looks like she is heavily ovulating, the pink spot seems bigger than last week:

While checking all over her for left over sheds, I noticed she has quite a few bite marks on her (just on the surface). Bits and pieces of shed cling to those areas; I suppose that is normal? Since she is ovulating, I'll put them together for another go on Wednesday. I don't understand why Marly is so concentrated in nipping her and not getting the deed done! He's getting me all worried! :main_no:
