seperation in breeding?

Soo i was curious. I was reading through many posts here about how people put the males in with the females cage. is this bc the females are more comfortable in the tank? or what about moving the male and female to a separate tub? and does anyone suggest a good breeding sheet online on a website? or a specific book that goes into great detail about leopard gecko breeding?
