use oatmeal for bedding, not the instant stuff. im using quaker oats and i set up 2 weeks ago and tonight i seen a buch of pupae , 2 to 3 weeks and they will be beetles. for gutloading, use potatoe and carrots. but always keep them in there or other veggies because thats where they get their water from. no need fo any additional water source which will only promote mold. the bedding will be good for a year unless you feel the need to change it sooner based on smell or whatever but my friend only changed it every year. i also took a piece of wire and used it to hang a washcloth (wet) into the tank but not touching the substrate to add some humidity you will need to research care of the beetles because i havnt got that far yet and i think (not sure) they dont eat oats just vegetables. ive also read not to use egg crates in the mealworm container because they will eat them and then you are feeding egg crates to your geckos. they said throw orange peels in there and just pick up the peels and shake the mealies off for easy removal to feed your geckos. better then digging them out of the oatmeal and i will try that soon. good luck, its really easy
