I have a female who looked to be a female. Im getting rready to breed her, 55 grams, and she looks like a he. Ill get pics, but what are you supposed to do if you get a wrongly sexed gecko from a large breeder.

I would let them know and hopefully they will work something out with you. If you got the leo from a large reputable breeder you shouldn't have any problems. Good luck bro please keep us posted on this.

Sometimes they will trade with you for the correct sex or maybe even refund you a portion of the money, but I think that will all depend n how long you have had the gecko.

Definitely post a clear pic because sometimes females may show bumps that look like a hemipenis, but it's the pores you want to look for.

Depends on the breeder and if it was sold as temp sexed or visibly sexed.

You may want to post pics here for us to try to help verify it for you.


I had a "hot female" that had what appeared to be hemipenile bulges (but not waxy pores) but was still a fertile female.

Somebody jumped the gun.

Its a Mack right? I have had several "females" wait until about that size, to finally show their hemipenes. Two of them only showed one bump at first, but then later turned out to be males and did have two.

Males are easy if they show early enough like most Leopards, but that hasnt really been the case with many of mine. Some of them show normally, but others take much much longer.

Females are very very hard to visually sex, as well as temp sex. I wouldnt sell a Mack below a certain size, or as TSD, just for that reason.

I have been rather amused by the "temp sexed" Macks that are out there, they dont even have a clue.:main_huh:

Not a mack. I put her with an ovulating female and it isnt really doing much, so i hope to see ovulation. Ill try to get pics soon
