Are you sure ? I always thought Super Hypo X Mack snow would make 50% Hypo and 50% Mack snow Hypo hatchlings. Correct me if I am wrong :)

Hypo is wild type. Hypo is a polygenic trait. That's why I added that the hatchlings would have varying amounts of spotting.

For example, this season I bred a SHTCT het eclipse x typhoon (typhoon is also super hypo, so no spotting at all). I got offspring ranging from a fair amount of spotting to none at all. I got some pretty tangerine offspring and some that were very yellow.

From these parents:

I got this range of offspring:

One from last year that has quite a bit of spotting and is very yellow:

A yellow one with just a bit of spotting:

A SHT (it's eclipse, so the tangerine is a bit washed out):

A super hypo that ended up very yellow (sorry for blurry, snapped it really quick without paying attention):

And even a SHT stripe:

So as you can see, the heritability of polygenic traits is not very simple. I got a pretty wide range of offspring even though both parents were super hypo.

There were more hatchlings from this pair (16 total) and I definitely got more that were super hypo than spotted and more that were tangerine than not. So by breeding two super hypos, I increased my chances of getting super hypos, but did not eliminate the possibility of spotting.

Thank you for reply, now I understand it much better. I'm really surprised by amount of spotting of your geckos, now I see it varies much more than I thought. Now I'm looking forward to see my baby geckos when they get older, male is SHTCT and females are MS and Blizzard.

BTW beautiful geckos :main_thumbsup:
