So Lucy, my youngest female (tremper albino) has been in shed past day or 2 and last night I checked on her after she had gotten rid of the skin & it looks as if the shed on her tail wasn't quite ready to come off & she pulled it off too soon. On the bottom of her tail in a couple spots and on the tip it's bleeding. Now, it's not a huge amount...like it's not dripping or anything like that just little spots. I tried to help by applying gentle pressure on it with tissue for awhile and it seemed to be doing the trick. The issue is when i woke up this morning & checked on her she had crawled back into her humid hide & i believe b/c it's damp in there it cause the wounds to open up again basically. It's not bleeding a huge amount, kinda of reminds me of when you were a kid & scraped your elbow, but it still worries me & I want to make sure. I moved her into her warm/dry hide hoping that would help to expedite the process of the would closing up. Is there anything I can apply when i get home if it is still bleeding any? A & D? I didn't want to do anything until I knew for sure since Gecko's skin is sensitive. Thanks ya'll!

Kiya did the same thing. The main thing I was concerned about was making sure it didn't get infected. So I took a damp Qtip and gently cleaned it every day. Now Kiya also went into the moist hide when this happened. I find that it is helping with her tail. When she removed some of the skin, some of it stuck, so it is now starting to peel off slowly.

My suggestion is clean it out with a qtip everyday. As for the moist hide, leave her in there and see if over a couple days the wound doesn't close up.

You can use neosporin on it as well, to keep it from getting infected, as long as it's not the numbing kind :)

Peroxide is bad, since it does disinfect but also eats away at the tissue. Sometimes it's recommended to use once, and then no more after that. So you could put a little Peroxide on there if you'd like, only one time, then just keep Neosporin on it.

That's what I was going to suggest...I've been using it on one of our geckos and it's working wonders!! I hope she's better soon!
