i have one male gecko in a 10 gal, with a moist hide, warm hide, and a cool hide. he was always in the moist hide for the first few weeks in the tank and now he has come to enjoy his cool hide. my question is that he just shed for his second time and i believe due to the lack of using his moist hide 6 of his toes did not shed. the problem i am having is that he still wont let me pick him up, he runs around and when i do catch him to hold him he wont hold still and climbs up my arm.

how do i help a untouchable leo shed toes??? i am afraid to put pressure on him while holding in the fear that he will get even more scared of me and drop his tail

You could try lining the bottom of a plastic tub with damp paper towels and put him in there for a while if you can pick him up long enough. Running around in there might help his toes. If you cant get him into it you COULD try putting them on the floor of the Viv but I wouldn't leave them in there for more than a couple of hours as the cage humidity would get too high.

There are several post in this section on Shedding Tips and Tricks.

Please read them.

Warm/Moist paper towels in a plastic box is one method.

Either gently push the Leo into the box or you will have to corner her and pick her up.

Is the moist hide on the warm side of the tank? What is the temp on the warm side?

Oh, he'll let you pick him up. Just be sure of yourself, gentle and do it often. I let mine wade in a little water for a while when there is shed stuck on toes. Eventually we work it off with a swab. My girls "quack", "squeek" when they don't want me to hold them, but I let them go when the time is right (for me). I don't let them get too upset though before putting them down.

I've heard my box turtles hiss at me and my cats, lol. My gecko girls quack, chatter, squeak or whatever, but definitely not a hiss. I know hisses all too well. lol
