Hi all, I am having shedding problem with my baby gecko... He is not shedding very successfully... Only part of the skin on the front of the body managed to drop off... He have old skins on his head, legs, lower part of the body and the tail...
He is still quite young, I think around 1-2 months old? And still quite skittish when I try to handle him and wouldn't hold still... So helping him peel is quite impossible... I am putting moist paper towel in its hide and misting every 2 days.. But it doesn't seems to help.. I even place him in a tupperware with warm moist paper towel but it doesn't help too...
I think it is stressing me and stressing him out..:main_no::main_no::main_no:
And I think he is going to shed again as the new skin is turning white again...
:dizzy2:

Anyone have suggestion dealing with young gecko shedding? Is there any thing I can do to improve shedding in the future..

I have started to use tweezers to help it peel its skin.. But there are still a lot of dead skin on the head, tail and four limbs.. Any other way for these delicate places...

i read somewhere that if you use a warm washcloth you can try to gently rub it off for 5-10 minutes each day till it comes off and around the eyes u can use a wet cue tip

How does a wet cue tip look like? New to geckos...
The problem is it is very scared when I try to handle it.. Just got these baby 2 weeks ago..

Okay, I am using the tweezer to help peel its dead skin off of it.. Seems very effective.. Will it cause any stress or discomfort to it? I tried the q tip.. Dun quite know how to go about doing it? And will there be any complications if the dead skin is left on the body for too long?

Complications...

Yes, there can be complications from the skin being left on, especially on the toes. The skin left on will actually constrict and cut off circulation. Toes can easily be lost. My adult female is missing about 6 toes from before I got her. It will happen to snakes also, except they will lose the tip of the tail.
My old corn snakes I would have to soak, soak, soak with warm washcloths.
Most important would be the toes and eyes.
Good luck!
