Shedding

I was wondering I have 3 geckos and all of them have moisture hides. Some don't use them before they shed. I have herd that some of the shed on there toes doesn't come off all the way. If it doesn't get off they can loose a toe. How can you tell if there is shed still remaining on there toes?

you will be able to see it if there is still skin on the toes.

Yea, but how? There feet are white and so is the shed.

i dont know how to explain it, there will be like excess skin hanging off or around the ankles or toes. there will be a little piece there that you can see and pick off.

Additional shedding question

Greetings Forums!! I too am the pround owner of a recently purchased leopard gecko (Rainbow the wonder lizard). She shed last night for the first time in my care. It looks like everything went great but I too am paranoid about the toes. Out of my paranoia I soaked her this morning in a dish of water for about 20 minutes, then used a q-tip to scrape all of her toes. To my surprise on some of her toes some skin did come off. Some of her other toes look like they are a little dull in color (but again I'm paranoid), however nothing came off of them. Does this imply to everyone that I"m "good to go" with this shedding seesion or should I try this again later in the day.

It really shouldn't be that hard to see. It will be obvious excess skin. I don't think it should require soaking and rubbing every toe just to see if there is unshed skin. That is gonna stress them out (especially the young ones).

Thanks for your help. I think I see what you mean. She had another small piece of skin on one toe. We pulled it off tonight. I'm pretty excited, we seem to have survived our first shedding.....very exciting!
