Shedding?

I've read how geckos tend to turn milky/white-ish when they are about to shed. Both of mine have done that a few times, but end up just getting their color back by the next day but not shedding. Should I be worried about this or will they do it in their own time?

Most likely they shed over night. You wouldn't know because they eat their skin, not leave it sitting around. Either that or the temperatures dropped alot, they got pale, and it warmed up the next day, making them shiny and colorful.

Well, it looks at though Loki was indeed shedding. I kept an eye on him most of the night and he just kept getting paler and paler. I picked him up to inspect him closer and around his ears was starting to loosen up (could actually see it). Didn't see it happen, but when I checked on him first thing in the morning he was back to his old, colorful self again. Minus a small bit atop his head. I initially thought it was a piece of sand stuck to the top of his head (I have since switched both tanks over to paper towel for substrate.) that just wouldn't come off (I tried a moist q-tip and tried to wipe it off on several occasions). Whatever it was, it's long gone now.

Yeesh, worrying over nothing. But the joys of learning more about your pets. lol.

You know, the funny thing is that I had some moss under his log which was kept moist. He would never go in there. He's happy as a clam in the toilet paper roll I put in there. Since we have to keep the two seperate, they're in medium-ish sized critter keepers for now. (Working on getting them each a 10 gal. glass aquarium, but have yet to figure out where they will be put since we're limited on space.) I even put in a small plastic container with a lid and a hole cut in the side for a moist hide, but he refuses to go in there. So we've been spraying the cage down a about 2-3 times a day.

So apparently something is working for him. lol.
