Shedding

I have a female who never had shed problems in her life before but I looked at her today and the shed was stuck all over her. SHe didnt even try to get it off. Shes been healthy, eating great, no problems at all. I bred her a week earlier, do you think this has anything to do with it? She always has a moist hide.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

I don't think it has anything to do with being bred, what are you using for a humid hide?

If you are so worried try buying some Repti-Shed Aid by Zoo-Med I use it for some of my snakes and lizards who have problems shedding.

Hey Joe, I know we talked about this, but I figured I'd add our experience here as well. I'm definitely stumped on this one too.

We too just had this start happening to one of our females. She was in perfect health, always ate, and never had a shed problem in over a year since we had her. We bred her not long ago and she's had two horrible sheds since. The shed is awful, it really clings but its flakey as well. It refuses to come off in one piece even after we've given her 2 warm soaks. We always keep her hide extra humid too since the first bad shed, but it's happened again. We've never had shed issues with any of our geckos, except for the common shed on the toes now and again. We've never had a gecko just abruptly become horrible at shedding after breeding either.

I really have no clue as to why this would happen. Does anyone else have any input?

I mentioned this on someone else's thread once, however, I'm not sure how much it would really help this situation. I my leo was having shed problems every time, so I REDUCED the moisture in the humid hide. It seemed that the skin was getting too wet and ripping too easily. Since I reduced it (2 sprays), the shed seems to hold together better and comes off in once piece. Any thoughts?
