Sometimes you can help them out by getting a pair of tweezers and gently removing any excess. When I see my geckos are getting ready to shed I usually spray the entire tank throughout the day to keep things humid because my little guy doesn't seem to use his humid hide that often. Geckos will often use materials around them to help them get the shed off as well. I have little wooden logs and sometimes they will scrape their bodies against it to get everything off.
