What are your guys thoughts on shelf liner (not the sticky kind) as a substrate? This is on a practical and functional stand point, not a natural or looks stand point. I really don't care about fancy in this particular tank lol
A little back ground as to why I'm asking: Amelia, my Dreamsicle, has enigma syndrome. Changing her paper towels stresses her to the point where she won't eat for days after wards (usually only one, but she can be really stuborn). I want something that I can just wipe clean, rather than have to remove her and all her stuff. Her poor little brain can't handle it! She can't help she's special
Now, I know some of you are screaming "Tile, tile!" but no where around here cuts it, and I don't want to deal with it. Plus, she hunts by contrast and I'm pretty sure she can only see shadows. So something light colored is needed. Smaller, light colored tiles are not in demand here at all. Apparently we Floridians like large, darker tiles So, tile is more or less out. Which leaves me with shelf liner!
So, will it work, or not? The tank has an under tank heater, and at night, for about 8 hours, a 50 watt moonglow heat bulb comes on. I'm half worried about the rubber gripping bottom maybe melting with the heating pad. I mean, I wouldn't think it would happen, but I want to be sure it's not a possibility. Does anyone use shelf liner, or know of anyone who does? Any thoughts are appreciated
