My tremper is extremely mean. When I put my hand in the cage she launches at me and when i touch her bites HARD and hisses. I really want to start handling her. Any ideas on what to do?
Are you holding her in a very bright room? I learned that mine only will be held during late evening hours when there is no overhead light on, mine is super light senstive.
I keep her in my bedroom. There's a window but the blinds are always down so its inbetween. The only time i go in there is to feed them and go to bed so I dont think that has anything to do with it. I think I'm going to just start trying to get her out more often and get bit A LOT more often and maybe
she'll start realizing im not gonna kill her lol
Some geckos just don't enjoy being handled, and that may be one of them. Frequent handling will help (most likely), but she may never become "friendly".
Personally, I would just think of her as a "look only" gecko, and play with the others you have.
I agree with Shanti. But if you are going to try and handle her I would leave my hand in the cage until she calms down for a while before touching her or trying to handle her. Just take it slow. I have to do the same thing with my leo but she is so nervous all of a sudden, she was fine and then one day she was shakin her tail a lot. LOL
