shipment of mealies

i just received my shipment of 500 mealies i put them in a plastic tub but i really dont know how to care for them so they can last me long enough to feed my leos and im reading that i have to take out the dead ones and skin can someone tell me why that is important ?

Its not. I mean if you see dead ones grab them but u don't have to go crazy. Get some oatmeal and use it for bedding then just stick em in the fridge. Take em out once a week for 24hrs. Put some fruit in while they are out apples, potatoes etc. After 24hrs. remove all fruit and stick em back in the fridge.

will be sure to do that i stuck them in the fridge today but without bedding going to put some right now!

Someone suggested using rice crispies and I've been testing those out! They seem to work as well as everything else that's been mentioned but definitely have a mildly disturbing snap-crackle-pop sound that I used to associate with milk more than worms...lol

lol i can see how that can be disturbing..would never look at rice crispies the same
