I think Superior has cold packs as well as heat packs & all the other shipping essentials.

I believe people are pretty evenly split over UPS & FEDEX. I have always preferred UPS because they were a bit cheaper and (most importantly) my geckos would arrive at about 9:30 instead of 1:00 as they do with FEDEX. However, I received a new gecko via UPS yesterday, but the prices had skyrocketed since I last used them and instead of guaranteeing noon to my semi-rural location, they would only guaratee 5:00. She did arrive at about 2:00 safe & sound though! I think both companies generally do a good job, but of course there are horror stories for both. I won't use DHL for geckos. I used to have my bugs delivered DHL 2nd day. Originally they'd come in one day & I was delighted. Recently they have been holding them for that 2nd day 20 min from my house, then the driver delivered them to my non-english speaking neighbors 4 times in a row. (yes, I called each time)

I've never had live animals delivered Fedex to me, but I did have some via UPS. They arrived early in the morning, so I'd probably say UPS is better, but then again I haven't gone the other route :p. I tend to trust UPS more anyway. The place I work does a lot of shipping and receiving. The Fedex guy always says they aren't the most reliable to getting things to places quick.
But, I suppose things are different depending on where in the U.S. you are. Different drivers, different states, etc. You probably could give both a shot, see which one you like better *shrugs*
