Should I add driftwood?

Hello! Lately, Sonny has been all over the tank, meaning she's climbing everywhere haha Climbing the hides and attempting to climb the walls :3 Well, her hides aren't very challenging to climb, so I thought I'd add in driftwood. However, I'm worried if I add something to the tank, she's going to get confused and start pooping in different places, stop eating because there's suddenly a new large object in the tank, etc. Do you think adding one thing to the tank would, I guess, stress her out? I just want to give her more things to climb :) I walked into my room today and she saw me and immediately started trying to climb over to me. Then, she chirped! I was like :D YOU JUST CHIRPED! And I kinda got excited xD So I put my hand in the tank and she immediately crawled over. She's come a long way haha She used to wag her tail back and forth if I put my hand in the tank, but now she's fine with it :D Anyways, sorry for going off on a tangent there xD Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! :)

sometimes. sometimes they bleach it to sanitize and then boil it. when you stick it in the oven it creates a horrible smell. also misting the tank can have problems with said wood when your gecko goes to lick it. if you do get real wood, make sure it isnt bleached. id play it safe and get the fake wood.

If you got a leo that likes to climb, then by all means provide some climbable things. Just remember to not let it go too high, because if you watch them, they fall a lot. Leopard geckos don't have sticky pads so if they fall from a good height, it can hurt them.

I have a raptor that I swear thinks she's a crested gecko. She climbs all over. So I end up getting a couple fake wood that go 3/4 way up in a 20gal tank, but underneath I put some large fake plants with large leaves. So luckily she's not heavy enough to fall through the leaves yet, and often she just ends laying and chilling on top of fake leaves.

drift wood is fine to use. make sure it is clean first. the oven is a good idea, i use this myself for wood i get from the woods, for naturalistic enclosures. it may actually stimulate your gecko to explore. one new item on occasion wont stress it out. the leos habitat is dry enough that you wont need to worry about any problems with the wood "seeping" out any bleach or anything if you spray your tank...however i though leos were supposed to have a small humid hide, and not get their whole cages misted...

Thanks everyone! I think I'll just go with the fake wood to play it safe ^_^ and I'll put something cushiony on the bottom just in case she falls; wouldn't want her getting hurt :) Thanks again!

I have a piece of cork bark in Daisy's cage and she really seems to like it. Hides under it to sleep, climbs on it when shes being nosey and rubs against it to get her shed off :)

Most of my geckos like a good climb but Peppa is the worst. One day we caught her clinging to her cactus and she looked so stupid just hanging there :main_laugh: Then she noticed we'd seen her, tried to carefully climb down but slipped and plopped back on the floor. Shes such a goof :main_rolleyes:

If you purchase the drift wood from a store or herp site online it should be safe and ready to go. All my tanks have driftwood in them...my guys love it!!! But anything you find outside should be processed with heat (boiling/low temp oven) prior to use
