Hi all,

I purchased a baby leopard gecko yesterday from the local pet store and when i got it home and into the viv, it just sat there, ever since then it seems to just stay along the back of the viv day and night. It wont even go to its hide.

Is this normal or should i be worried?

Thanks

Leigh

Normally (with most all animals) they can take a few days to become acclimated. That baby was probably hatched, put into one container, then into a shipping container and then transported to that store, then into the tank, then into your viv so...it's a lot to take in when you are a tiny little thing lol. Give it a few days, make sure it has adequate water, and leave it be. There is probably no point in offering any food for the first few days either. Ohh the joys of new pethood lol.

Congrats on the new baby though :)

Thanks for the advice.

About the water, i have yet to see it go anywhere near, should i try to give it some another way or will it know to go to it when it needs it?

It should be fine for a few days if left alone. If you still notice no movement you could try misting it a bit then. Baby geckos can be very fragile finicky things...or monster beasts that hiss at you lol.

I recently purchased two from a petstore the other day(I dont usually buy from them). Both of mine went directly in their hides from day one and come out at night once in a while. I actually had no clue how young they were until I weighed them. I read a poll on here and most breeders wouldn't sell until around the 15gram mark. The two I picked up were 4grams and 7 grams! But they're in good hands now.
