Shouldn't have pipped the egg...

I had two eggs that were 2 weeks overdue. Thinking they were bad, like most of my other eggs this year, I pipped one and found a developing embryo that looks to be about 80% developed. I've had other eggs hatch from this incubator one or two days late and they were OK. I double checked the temps in the bator and they were good.

How overdue will eggs go? I'm curious what others have found...

I still have the other egg from the clutch on the go so at least I should get one of the pair to hatch...

On the bright side, it proves that male#2 is not shooting blanks!

Hey Steve....Leopard gecko eggs? What would 2 weeks overdue make the length of time you are talking about. The one you opened....was it a still alive or a terminated gecko? You may get other answers, but my way here now is, I operate on low temped eggs at 75 days. I have either found partial formed babies terminated or one raring to burst out of the shell, and " "Looking for a little help from my Friends" take care. HJ

Yeah, leopard gecko eggs.

This clutch was layed Feb 10 + 65 days (82.5F) = April 15... I waited an extra two weeks before pipping the egg! The embryo did move a bit so I left it in the incubator but it didn't survive long.

The clutchmate hatched last night after 84 days in the incubator...:main_thumbsup:
It's a nice healthy Super Hypo Mack Snow.

That's the last time I'll pip an egg! I'll let nature take it course from now on!

We got pictures....none of these are the clutchmate to the one that I pipped as I haven't taken a picture of her yet but I'll throw some hatchling pics up here anyway...:main_thumbsup:

Hey Jess, I don't think I'm going to get any MS Patternless hatchlings this year as the eggs are always infertile from that female...maybe next year!!

Very adorable snows!!!!! Sorry to hear that you may not get a MS Patty this year, but at least you have two super snows!!! We have one female that laid an infertile clutch and hasn't laid since all season long, and she just so happens to be the only female that can produce MS T-albinos!! So I know how you feel, friend!!! What you have are all gorgeous, though ;) Congrats! I still can't wait to see that super hypo mack snow!

Thanks Jess,

I think my Super Hypo Mack Snow has turned out to be a normal...oh well, it's healthy and that's what matters...

This is the clutchmate of the one I wrongly destroyed...

You're very welcome! I am so sorry for the other egg, but that baby is darling!!! I love his little pattern and that little spot on his bum :sweetheart: Could still end up being a super hypo or a hypo :)
